Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship
Are you a sophomore or junior studying Natural Sciences, Engineering, or Mathematics? The Barry M. Goldwater Foundation offers a 2-year scholarship up to $7,500 annually. Students must be nominated. To be considered, submit an application to BYU's faculty representative, Randall Shirts, by December 18, 2009. Application forms, instructions, and more information can be found on the Goldwater website.

Critical Language Summer Programs Critical Language Summer Programs
The U.S. State Department funds a 7-10 week group-based intensive language instruction and extensive cultural enrichment experiences held overseas at the beginning, intermediate and advanced levels of various "critical languages." Deadline: December 18, 2009

National Science Foundation National Science Foundation
This scholarship offers three years of financial support, including an annual $30,000 stipend and $10,500 education allowance to students pursuing research based masters or doctorates. Deadline: Mid-Late November (See website for details)

National Defense Science & Engineering Fellowship National Defense Science & Engineering Fellowship
Covers tuition, fees, and stipend of $31,000 for a doctoral degree in science or engineering. Deadline: Early January 2010 (See website for details)

Carnegie Endowment for International Peace: Junior Fellows Program Carnegie Endowment for International Peace: Junior Fellows Program
Allows graduating seniors the opportunity to be junior research fellows. Fellows will work with senior associates on international affairs issues: $2,750 a month + insurance and moving allowance. BYU Deadline: December 7, 2009.

NIH Graduate Partnerships Program NIH Graduate Partnerships Program
A PhD experience combined with extensive research in NIH labs. Award ranges from $22,500 to $31,800 depending on the program and year of study. Deadline: December 15th 2009.

Institute for Humane Studies - Undergraduate/Graduate Institute for Humane Studies - Undergraduate/Graduate
This fellowship provides$12,000 for students who have clearly demonstrated research interest in the intellectual and institutional foundations of a free society. Available for juniors, seniors and graduate students. Deadline: December 31, 2009.

The National Security Education Program offers from $4,000-$30,000 for study abroad in areas that are critical to U.S. security interests: Africa, Asia, Eastern & Central Europe, Middle East, Latin America & the Caribbean. BYU Deadline: January 11, 2010.
