Description: The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is the nation's premier biomedical research institution. NIH offers an innovative program to support the career development of the next generation of biomedical health researchers - an undergraduate scholarship program for students from disadvantaged backgrounds. This service-connected scholarship program targets students who are committed to pursuing careers in health research and basic biomedical, behavioral, and social science health-related research.
Qualifications: Students must be U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent residents who are from a disadvantaged background. Applicants must also have at least a 3.5 GPA or be within the top 5 percent of their class.
Amount: 20,000
Length: One year, renewable up to four years.
Application Process: The application includes: an undergraduate certification form, three recommendations, and a scholarship contract. Applications can be downloaded from the NIH website.
