Harry S. Truman
Description: The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation awards scholarships to college students who plan to pursue careers in government or elsewhere in public service and wish to attend graduate or professional school. Truman Scholars participate in leadership development programs and have special opportunities for internships and employment with the federal government.
Qualifications: Students must attend an accredited U.S. university or college, be nominated by their institution's Truman Faculty Representative, be a U.S. citizen or national, and be in the upper quarter of their junior class. The Foundation seeks students who have an extensive record of public and community service, are committed to a career in government or elsewhere in public service, and have outstanding leadership potential and communication skills.
Amount: $30,000.
Application Process: To be nominated, applicants must submit a complete application form to one of the Faculty Representatives by the deadline. After reviewing the applications and interviewing students, applicants who will receive a nomination will be notified.
