Morris K. Udall
Description: Each year, the Morris K. Udall Foundation awards undergraduate scholarships of up to $5,000 to two groups of students: juniors and seniors in fields related to the environment, and to Native American and Alaska Natives in fields related to health care or tribal public policy.
Qualifications: All candidates must be nominated by their university. Applicants must be sophomores or juniors at the time they are nominated, have at least a "B" average GPA, and be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien, or U.S. national. A Native American or Alaska Natives is an individual who: 1. has membership in a tribe or band, 2. is a descendent, in the first or second degree, of a member of an Indian tribe or band, 3. is considered by the Secretary of the Interior to be an Indian for any purpose, or 4. is an Eskimo or Aleut, or other Alaska Native. Documentation must be provided.
Amount: Up to $5,000
Application Process: BYU can nominate up to a total of six students from either or both categories. Applications will not be accepted directly from candidates. To be considered, a student must be nominated by his or her college or university using the official nomination materials provided to each institution. Nomination materials include: institution nomination form, nominee information form, nominee's essay, three independent evaluation of nominee forms, and nominee's transcripts.
